Day 4: Open Air Marketplace & Lounging & Oh no!

This morning we visited the downtown area in Sarasota for their open air market.   It is an ecclectic group of businesses from the local community.  When we arrived the day's temps were already climbing.  We walked around the various vendors selling a number of items from honey to wood carvings with beach scenes.

While there Jill and I had a conversation with a local vendor selling fermented items that help with your digestion.  Her website www.fermentlicious.com is a great resource.

We played it relatively low key and skipped the beach but hit the pool .  However, Ryan and Jordan headed out to Siesta Key again.   Jake was busy with homework but also looked like he was doing a deep dive on his eyelid reading.  LOL

Once we all got back we got ourselves ready to head out to dinner at Siesta Key.  The spot we headed to was the perfect beach town with shops and restaurants.  We enjoyed a dinner at The Cottage where Jordan felt it was quite hot!  As we wrapped up dinner we stepped out after a rain moved through and headed back to the car.  The idea was to catch a sunset photo but the skies were a little cloudy.

I noticed a beach store and wanted to get a bag to hold my phone for a return to the beach on Sunday.  I crossed quickly and found one.  On the way out, Ryan was heading in saying he "was getting a towel" and then looked down the road saying "oh...here they come".  What he was referring to was the paramedics and firetruck coming.  It was then I saw our gang around somone.  Thinking someone got hit by car I ran to see Papa had fallen and hit his head.

A shocking moment as the paramedics prepared him to get onto the gurney and into the ambulance.  Once loaded up, we met them at the Sarasota hospital where Papa was x-rayed, scanned, and stitched up.  No concussoin but in pain with broken ribs, 6 stitches by his eye, and a bad bruise on his elbow.

Joe and Jen went back as COVID rules were still in effect.  Ryan and Jake came and picked me up to take me back to the house.  While there we waited and with an ice cream from Freddy's for Papa.

When they got back we got Papa settled in.  Ugh.  A tough fall but he was in good spirits.

I think we learn alot about family as we go through the years.  We learn even more when an accident occurs with family.  I love our family.  Nuff said.
